Visit Jewish Synagogue: (Closed on Fri and Sat)- Also known as Cochin Jewish Synagogue or Mattancherry Synagogue, Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue, not just in Kochi but in the Commonwealth of Nations. Located in the Jew Town area of Kochi, the synagogue was constructed in 1567 and is one of the seven synagogues of the Malabar Yehudan or Yehudan Mappila.
Explore the Fort Kochi area: Fort Kochi is a seaside town in the south-western part of Main Kochi which is known for its old-world colonial charm. The place still holds on to every single cultural change it has gone through over the centuries.
Visit the St. Francis Church, Chinese fishing nets, Dutch Palace & Dutch cemetery.
St. Francis Church in Kochi, which finely exhibits Portuguese architecture, is believed to be one of a kind amongst all the European churches which were constructed in India. It was constructed in the 15th century by the Portuguese traders. Vasco-da-Gama, the famous explorer, was buried in this church when he died in 1524, on his third visit to India.
Chinese Fishing Nets - Most Photographed Sight in Kochi
Popularly known as Cheenavala, The Chinese fishing nets that line the waterfront are one of Fort Cochin’s most iconic sights.
Visit Dutch Palace: The Mattancherry Palace (also known as Dutch Palace) is located about 12 km from Ernakulam. One of the finest examples of the Kerala style of architecture mixed with colonial influences, the Portuguese built it as a gift to King Veera Kerala Verma.
Visit The Dutch Cemetery in Fort Kochi – an important legacy of the historical vicissitudes of the colonial past.
Then take a brief walk past the seaside beach.
Visit the Bishop's House Road, Union Club building and Santa Cruz Basilica. Also visit the spice and vegetable market.
Visit Ernakulam Shiva Temple:The Shiva Temple, popularly known as the Ernakulathappan Temple, is an important place of worship in the mainland of Ernakulam. he temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity who is in the form of Gourisankara and is considered a rare one as the deity faces the Arabian sea towards west. These idols are said to be Swayambhoo (means self-existing or created by its own accord).

Also enjoy the folk dance form of Kathakali. Famous around the world, Kathakali's magnificence has won great admiration for the state of Kerala. It combines devotion, drama, dance, music, costumes and make up into a divine experience for all who get to view it. It retells the great stories of the past, mostly from Indian epics, and leaves one spellbound at the various intricacies involved in the performance. Overnight at Munnar
Early morning, paddle through the plantation and beautiful mountains. Also interact with the locals starting their daily activities. (Duration 01 Hour)
After the cycle tour, come back to the hotel for breakfast.

See the Mattupetty Dam: Mattupetty Dam is a strong gravity dam which was constructed for power generation and water conservation. Located in the Munar hills near the Anamudi peak, the dam is situated 1700 meters high. The dam was built in the late 1940s as a part of the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project and is now an important source of energy in Munnar in addition to being an important water source for birds and animals.
Tea Factory & Museum Visit: The Tea factory visit in Munnar will give you all the information of various stages of tea processing included in making of black tea. During the tea factory visit, see for yourself and enjoy every step during which the tea leaves are processed and at the end of the tour, enjoy a cup of delicious freshly prepared tea! (Tea Factory & Museum Closed on Monday).
Visit Kundale Lake: The Lake is situated at around 20 kilometers from the Queen of Hills Munnar. The lake presents the visitors the exquisite natural beauty as the sun swiftly moves up and the water reflects the light in million different directions.
Visit Echo Point: Located at a distance of about 15 kilometers from Munnar, Echo Point is situated right in the lap of a quaint lake and misty hills covered with lush green trees.
Visit Eravikulam National Park - The Eravikulam National Park houses a rich and diverse variety of flora and fauna and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Also known as Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary. The Eravikulam National park is famous for housing the endangered mountain goat of South India, the Nilgiri Tahr.
Enjoy a traditional lunch on a banana leaf at local restaurant in Munnar and enjoy delicious assortment of South Indian dishes like Dosas, Idlis, Appams and Sambar.
Later enjoy Kollukumalai Tea Estate (Closed on Monday): The sprawling plantations and an old tea factory lend an old world charm to this place. The two-storied building, built in the 1930s, with its wooden interiors and aroma would present you some time-tested methods of tea processing. Here tea is processed in the traditional method, which is different from the more popular CTC (crush-tear-curl method) Kolukkumalai is about 7,900 ft above sea level and you can have some excellent views of the far off plains in the bordering State of Tamil Nadu. The distant hills slipping in and out of the mist is a captivating sight . Enjoy a Jeep ride through Tea Plantation.

Overnight at Munnar
After hearty breakfast, check out from hotel and travel to Thekkady – (Periyar) -India's Largest Tiger Reserve
The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar forests of Thekkady are one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Spreads across the entire district are the picturesque plantations and hill towns that nestle beautiful trails for treks and mountain walks. It is one of the oldest tiger reserves in the country and the forests of Periyar are embellished by the presence of endangered species including White Tigers. On arrival, check in to hotel.
In the afternoon take a guided tour of the spice plantations in Thekkady– Enter the plantations and the intoxicating aroma of cloves, nutmeg, pepper, cinnamon or cardamom takes over. This will be followed by a walking tour of the interesting Kumily market. The town is always teeming with activity. It is famous for its spice and tea plantations and is among the most important commercial centers in Kerala. Meet and interact with the locals and know about their lifestyle.

Overnight at Thekkady
After breakfast, go on a boat ride inside the Periyar National Park.
Explore the Periyar National Park through its waterways. Set off on a boat ride over the serene artificial lake located right in the middle of the forest. Witness various wildlife of the sanctuary like gaur, sambar deer, wild boar, leopard and more. You may also capture herds of elephants skirting the banks, mud bathing or playing in the wetlands. Listen to the birds chirping and the sound of water cascading below.
After the boat ride, spend some time with elephants in the elephant program which includes elephant feeding & bathing. (No Elephant Riding)

Overnight at Thekkady
After a hearty breakfast, check out from hotel and travel to Alappuzha by Air Conditioned vehicle.
Set out on an enchanting overnight backwater cruise in traditionally decorated houseboats. Check in time is 01:00 PM and cruise starts with lunch. While cruising in these floating luxury-villas, let your eyes settle for the rare and the unusual - skim past Chinese fishing nets, bowed-down paddy fields, and local inhabitants engaged in making coir products, rustic homes, and ancient temples and swaying coconut groves. Food will be served onboard.
A rare treat while you sojourn in the God's Own Country, a backwater holiday on Kerala style houseboats or "Kettuvalloms". These palm covered country boats are designed to navigate the narrowest of canals. Almost 50 feet long, the "Kettuvallam" has comfortable bedrooms (2 or 3 in one boat) with small en-suite facilities. There is also a large open side sitting area where meals using local fish and vegetables (prepared on board) are served.

After an early breakfast at the hotel’s main restaurant check-out and leave for Pinnawala.

App. 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo - Kandy road is Pinnawala, the orphanage which was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned Elephants found in the jungles of Sri Lanka.
Spend some moments among these elephants and experience the surreal bond between a human and an animal. Observe the elephants from the closest proximity and capture this breathtaking vista in your digital lens. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0915-0945 hrs. and 1415-1445 hrs. and the bathing time from 1000-11.00 hrs. and 1500-1600 hrs. when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.
Thereafter, proceed to Habarana and check in to the hotel in Dambulla.

After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below.
This remarkable 5th century archaeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock and the frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya.
Note: Please note that to reach the top of Sigiriya Rock, there are nearly 1,200 stone steps up and then down. Anybody in reasonably good condition will be able to venture to the top of Sigiriya Rock and it's certainly worth the effort, however important to know these little details before embarking on this outing.
Thereafter, leave for Polonnaruwa.
Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa / Travel Distance: 67 km / Approximate travel time: 2 hours
Polonnaruwa - is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya (3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock). The audience hall, the lotus bath, the Polonnaruwa statue (12th century) and the Parakrama Samudra tank (lake) built by king Parakramabahu the great. There are also ruins of famous places of worship such as the Shiva temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth. After sightseeing, return to your hotel.

Visit Dambulla Cave Temple
Passing Matale as one reaches the city of Dambulla lies a hub which has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. Today, an icon in the face of Sri Lanka Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed 5 cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla.
Observe how exquisitely cave paintings are done along walls that shelter 150 statues of Lord Buddha. As you enter the retreat, look straight up to the gigantic Buddha statue glittering in gold over a land which today houses an important junction in the country's economic and cultural uplifting.
Afternoon, visit Minneriya National Park and enjoy a Jeep Safari.
If you're up for a serious rumble in the jungle, then Minneriya is your Colosseum! Spreading over 8800 hectares, this is a sanctuary for elephants.
Minneriya is home to herds of deer and ample birdlife, but its spotlight remains between swaying trunks & flapping ears.
Park your jeep on the bank of the reservoir and switch off its engine. Watch carefully as herds of elephants - one by one - roll on to the grass-covered banks, to feed on tender shoots. In fact, this is the largest elephant gathering in the world - over 700 at a time - which has garnished the park to become a magnet for wildlife enthusiasts across the globe.

Amongst other fascinating sights, Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

Observe local life as you cycle through villages and along the banks of the Mahaveli River, the longest of Sri Lanka. Visit Elkaduwa Tea Plantation, Rice Paddy fields, Hunas Water Fall where you will see the real Nature and Lifestyle of the Sri Lankan Countryside.

Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue.

Early morning Transfer to Horton Plains National Park for a Day Hike.
Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains/ Travel Distance: 31 Km/ Approximate travel time: 01 Hours 05 Minutes
Horton Plains is 20 miles (32 km) from Nuwara Eliya via Ambewela and Pattipola, is the Horton Plains only 3160 hectares in extent. Known to Sri Lankans as Mahaeliya, it became Horton Plains after Sir Robert Horton, British Governor from 1831- 1837. Horton Plains became a Nature Reserve in 1969 and upgraded as a National Park in 1988 due to its unique watershed and bio-diversity values.
Its flora has high level of endemism. The hills are covered with diverse wet low evergreen forest with even large trees grown flattened to the ground on the higher windswept slopes. Horton Plains harbors 52 species of resident birds and 11 species of migrant birds. More than 2,000 to 3,000 Sambhur, Bear Monkey, Leopard, Barking Deer, Giant Squirrel, Fishing Cat, Wild Boar and Hares roam in the forests and grasslands but only seldom they could be seen other than the Sambhur in the evening and morning.
This is the only National Park where visitors could walk on their own in the designated tracks.

Visit to 9 Arch bridge & Mini Adams peak
The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka.It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.
Little Adam's peak is the mini version of the pilgrimage mountain site of central Sri Lanka called Adam's peak. Located in Ella, the little Adam's shape is the same as its so-called bigger brother The Adam's Peak. It provides a less exhausting and more pleasant alternative as a hiking spot to those who cannot hike on a mountain as big as Adam's peak but also want to see a breathtaking view from a mountain's top.
Visit to Ravana Falls
The history of Sri Lanka dates back to over 2000 years and it finds itself in the iconic Ramayana. It is believed that Ravana was a fervent Sri Lankan by origin and stood as a villain in the lives of duo Ram – Sita. He captured Sita and kept her hostage in his custody in the famous, Ravana caves and the Ravana falls. Landscapes around the Ravana falls comprises of slopes, valleys, hills and streams that ornament the rocks.

Yala National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this were established in 1938.
Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. (AM & PM Safari)
