App. 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo - Kandy road is Pinnawala, the orphanage which was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned Elephants found in the jungles of Sri Lanka. Spend some moments among these elephants and experience the surreal bond between a human and an animal. Observe the elephants from the closest proximity and capture this breathtaking vista in your digital lens. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0915-0945 hrs. and 1415-1445 hrs. and the bathing time from 1000-11.00 hrs. and 1500-1600 hrs. when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.
Thereafter, proceed to Kandy.

Unconquered for centuries, this capital city held the Sinhalese culture and sacred Buddhist Relics safe against the unsuccessful onslaught of Dutch and Portuguese invasions, before finally falling to British political tricks at the beginning of the nineteenth century. After early breakfast, see another side of Kandy with a day cycling trip that takes you away from the busy lifestyle of Kandy city center and into the nearby countryside.
Observe local life as you cycle through villages and along the banks of the Mahaveli River, the longest of Sri Lanka. Visit Elkaduwa Tea Plantation, Rice Paddy fields, Hunas Water Fall where you will see the real Nature and Lifestyle of the Sri Lankan Countryside.

Royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya is 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 4,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue.

If you choose to drive from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya then enroute stop and visit Ramboda Falls . Located next to the road between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, Ramboda Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka, standing at over one hundred meters tall, and is undoubtedly one of Sri Lanka’s most picturesque.

Early morning Transfer to Horton Plains National Park for a Day Hike.
Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains/ Travel Distance: 31 Km/ Approximate travel time: 01 Hours 05 Minutes
Horton Plains is 20 miles (32 km) from Nuwara Eliya via Ambewela and Pattipola, is the Horton Plains only 3160 hectares in extent. Known to Sri Lankans as Mahaeliya, it became Horton Plains after Sir Robert Horton, British Governor from 1831- 1837. Horton Plains became a Nature Reserve in 1969 and upgraded as a National Park in 1988 due to its unique watershed and bio-diversity values.
Its flora has high level of endemism. The hills are covered with diverse wet low evergreen forest with even large trees grown flattened to the ground on the higher windswept slopes. Horton Plains harbors 52 species of resident birds and 11 species of migrant birds. More than 2,000 to 3,000 Sambhur, Bear Monkey, Leopard, Barking Deer, Giant Squirrel, Fishing Cat, Wild Boar and Hares roam in the forests and grasslands but only seldom they could be seen other than the Sambhur in the evening and morning.
This is the only National Park where visitors could walk on their own in the designated tracks.

Overnight at Nuwara Eliya
Today, after breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and proceed to Arugam Bay via Ella.
The view from Ella Gap is one of the most spectacular scenic sights in Sri Lanka - the landscape falls away in a dizzy drop of 3000ft to the eastern plains.

Visit to 9 Arch bridge & Mini Adams peak
The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.
Little Adam's peak is the mini version of the pilgrimage mountain site of central Sri Lanka called Adam's peak. Located in Ella, the little Adam's shape is the same as its so-called bigger brother The Adam's Peak. It provides a less exhausting and more pleasant alternative as a hiking spot to those who cannot hike on a mountain as big as Adam's peak but also want to see a breathtaking view from a mountain's top.
Visit to Ravana Falls
The history of Sri Lanka dates back to over 2000 years and it finds itself in the iconic Ramayana. It is believed that Ravana was a fervent Sri Lankan by origin and stood as a villain in the lives of duo Ram – Sita. He captured Sita and kept her hostage in his custody in the famous, Ravana caves and the Ravana falls. Landscapes around the Ravana falls comprises of slopes, valleys, hills and streams that ornament the rocks.

Ella – Arugam Bay/ Travel Distance: 133 km / Approximate travel time: 3 hours
Lovely Arugam Bay, a moon-shaped curl of soft sand, is home to a famed point break that many regard as the best surf spot in the country. It's a tiny place, with a population of a few hundred, and everything is dotted along a single road which parallels the coast. So in other words, the epitome of the laid-back beach scene that first drew surfers and sun-seekers to Sri Lanka.

Yala National Park was originally a hunters arena during British colonial rule but now has the highest population of leopards on earth. Not only animals but it also provide a quaint environment for birds as well. It is Sri Lanka’s largest national park with a total area of 900 Sq. Km. Yala National Park attracts a lot of tourists throughout the year due to its high density of leopards, sloth bears, crocodiles, and deer.

After breakfast, check out from hotel and get transferred to Udawalawe – One of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka.

Stretching over a land of 30,821 hectares, Udawalawe National Park is famous for its large population of elephants. Hence, this national park is ideal to observe the herds of marvelous Asian elephants in their unique natural habitats. It is known that about 400 elephants in total are sustaining here while about 250 of them are considered as permanently resident.
