Visit the Katuwapitiya Church and the Grand Street Church –the two biggest parishes in Negombo.
Also visit “Agurukaramulla temple” a famous Buddhist temple bringing Buddhists from all over Sri Lanka to Negombo every year.
After Negombo tour, travel to Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura is a historical paradise as it houses several heritage monasteries, palaces and monuments. It is known for its vast dagobas or brick stupas, ancient ponds and pools, and magnificent temples. The city was established as the first capital of Sri Lanka in 377 BC.

Visit Archaeological Museum

Not only that but also the museum provides the basic information about the rural living styles and their habitats which were changed from time to time. Trasnfer to Aukana

Standing up to a solid 40 feet over Anuradhapura the Aukana Buddha Statue – a creation of king Datusena –happens to be one of the foremost cultural & religious attractions in Sri Lanka spearheading fantastic proof of carvings that date back to the 5th century.
The standing Buddha statue chiseled out of a granite cliff with magnificently carved pleats of a robe worn over the left shoulder truly proves not only a subtle talent of a local stone mason but also a masterpiece of a king who is still venerated by locals.

The tree is an authentic and living link to Gautama Buddha and is often respected as the oldest tree in history which has a recorded date of the plantation.
Visit Abhayagiri Vihara – one of the most beautiful and exciting structures which is in the atmospheric setting of Anuradhapura. See the Abhayagiri Monastery Complex including Stupa and Museum– The Abhayagiri Monastery was established in the 2nd Century BCE by King Valagamabau in the celebration of his victory against the Indian Chola invaders.
Later drive back to your hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure.

Just 16km off the sacred city of Anuradhapura lies the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lankaas the stone carvings and unending stairways proclaim a legacy which hinges the philosophy sermon by Buddha - 'The Awakened One'.
This is the holy land which sheltered the first Buddhist sermon by Arahath Mahinda to King Devanampiya Thissa when the Poson full moon brightened a forest used by the king himself for hunting.
Walk passing a massive cooling fountain and head towards the renowned staircase of the temple. Feel the coolness of granite slabs as you shift from the ruins of a hospital to Kantaka Stupa built in 1st century B.C. enriched with magical hands of the Sri Lankan stone carver.
Step into the courtyard and towards its left sitting calm, is the refractory. However, the highlights of the sacred land are Maha Seya - the main dagoba - and Aradhana Gala, the peak of the rock assuring breath-taking viewpoints of the Kingdom of Lakes, Anuradhapura.
After sightseeing, travel further to Trincomalee.
Mihintalee – Trincomalee / Travel Distance: 92.2 km / Approximate travel time: 01 Hour 38 minutes
Trincomalee, the city which houses one of the best natural deep-water ports in the world, has a legacy that has painted history since royalty throughout colonization, heading towards modern Sri Lanka revamping a fancy development effort.

After early breakfast, go for Snorkelling at Pigeon Island.
The magic of Pigeon Island is a 30 minute boat ride away. The reef here is home to over 100 coral species and about 300 species of fish.
This is where many observer would find both the juvenile and adult Black Tip Reef Shark as well as a variety of turtle — such as the Hawksbill, the Green Turtle and the Olive Ridley. Pigeon Island gets its name from the countless number of Rock Pigeons that use it as their breeding ground.(Inclusive of a boat ride to Pigeon Island, and snorkeling gear, inclusive of entrance fees to the National Park)

Blue Whales usually migrate to far ends of the planet in search of food, but many of the whales living in Sri Lankan waters don’t do that. Just a few years back, a huge colony (one of the biggest in the world) of Whales was discovered in Sri Lanka, which opened up a sea of opportunities to study the elusive animals. Blue Whales are very shy, they don’t wait for you or flip for you like dolphins, they usually give a glimpse and vanish. But that one glimpse is enough to make you feel special because not everyone gets to see Blue Whales.

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tour of Trincomalee with your guide.
Enter the granite-built Portuguese Fort resting in the heart of Trincomalee – built in the 17th century by the Portuguese and was later fully completed by the year 1624. The Fort takes you on a fantastic heritage experience to remember.
Later, head towards the classical-medieval Hindu temple 'Koneswaram' which blazes a subtle sense of Dravidian architecture.
Take a stroll at the Bhadrakali Amman Temple dedicated to the goddess Kali.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure or relax on the beautiful beaches of Trincomalee.

After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below.
This remarkable 5th century archaeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock and the frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya.
Note: Please note that to reach the top of Sigiriya Rock, there are nearly 1,200 stone steps up and then down. Anybody in reasonably good condition will be able to venture to the top of Sigiriya Rock and it's certainly worth the effort, however important to know these little details before embarking on this outing.
After Sigiriya sightseeing, get trasnferred to Dambulla hotel for overnight stay.

Dambulla – Polonnaruwa / Travel Distance: 67.9 km / Approximate travel time: 01 Hour 23 minutes
Polonnaruwa - is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya (3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock). The audience hall, the lotus bath, the Polonnaruwa statue (12th century) and the Parakrama Samudra tank (lake) built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also ruins of famous places of worship such as the Shiva temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth.
Afternoon, visit Minneriya National Park and enjoy a Jeep Safari.
Polonnaruwa – Minneriya / Travel Distance: 21.6 km / Approximate travel time: 29 minutes
If you're up for a serious rumble in the jungle, then Minneriya is your Colosseum! Spreading over 8800 hectares, this is a sanctuary for elephants.
Minneriya is home to herds of deer and ample birdlife, but its spotlight remains between swaying trunks & flapping ears.
Park your jeep on the bank of the reservoir and switch off its engine. Watch carefully as herds of elephants - one by one - roll on to the grass-covered banks, to feed on tender shoots. In fact, this is the largest elephant gathering in the world - over 700 at a time - which has garnished the park to become a magnet for wildlife enthusiasts across the globe.

Visit Dambulla Cave Temple
The city of Dambulla lies in a hub that has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. Today, an icon in the face of Sri LankaDambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed 5 cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla.
Observe how exquisitely cave paintings are done along walls that shelter150 statues of Lord Buddha. As you enter the retreat, look straight up to the gigantic Buddha statue glittering in gold over a land which today houses an important junction in the country's economic and cultural uplifting.
Later drive to Kandy.

Royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya is 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 4,000 species of trees, plants, and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world, is one such avenue.
Later return to your hotel and spend some time at leisure.
In the evening, visit the temple of the tooth relic and enjoy a brief tour of the beautiful Kandy town.
Unconquered for centuries, this capital city held the Sinhalese culture and sacred Buddhist Relics safe against the unsuccessful onslaught of Dutch and Portuguese invasions, before finally falling to British political tricks at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Amongst other fascinating sights,Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.
