Nahargarh is a 16th century military fortress built situated on top of the Aravalli hill overlooking the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh once formed a strong defense ring for the city. The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means ‘abode of tigers’. The popular belief is that Nahar here stands for Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed construction of the fort. Nahar’s spirit was pacified by building a temple in his memory within the fort, which thus became known by his name.
On Nahargarh Cycle Tour we pass through some of the most scenic spots for a beautiful panoramic view of the pink city and especially the Man Sagar Lake (Jal Mahal) – is an artificial lake It is named after Raja Man Singh, the then ruler of Amer, who constructed it by damming the Dravyavati river. The Jal Mahal is situated in the middle of the lake.
On your way to the top enjoy the breeze and the music of various birds to spot like Peacocks, Parakeets (Indian parrot) and the Indian Roller etc.,
We serve light refreshments with energy drinks/Tea at the summit and then ride back and enjoy the downhill to Jal mahal. and from there guest can proceed directly to Amber fort if they have elephant ride, else 25 mints drive to Jal mahal hotel. Nahargarh is not a tuf ride as we keep stopping after every few kms for taking photos and some refreshments, and the bikes provided are meant for such trails moreover a support vehicle is always there following the riders.
