Chandni Chowk by Night

This night walk around Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi shows you the capital when it is most alive, in the evening. Chandni Chowk literally means the ‘Moonlit Square’ and it is believed that the name came from Mughal times when the water in the square reflected the moonlight. After dark people get on with their daily activities, so do expect crowds and some attention from the locals as you venture into the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. Your guide will explain the history of the area and highlight the remaining facades and buildings that have survived this rapidly changing area.

This excursion explores Chandni Chowk at night which has a completely different vibe when compared to Chandni Chowk during day time. The walk starts at Sisganj Gurudwara, is one of the nine historical Gurdwaras in Delhi followed by a visit to the next door Sunehri Masjid is a mosque in Old Delhi. with its very interesting history and a quick stop at Kanwarji’s – a sweet shop and an Old Delhi institution. The walk continues through Ballimaran’s plentiful bakeries and chai shops, wander towards Jama Masjid Known as central mosque of the old Delhi at the time of Shah Jahan. He completed this mosque in the year 1656 and made it the biggest and best-known mosque all over in India. and its glittering bazaars which remains open till the wee hours of the morning.
